It features our custom attack and supply lines, like many of our other apparatus use, but the supply lines now have male and female couplings on them while the attack lines have improved female connections and a stronger attachment to the nozzle. The pump panel has a male plug covering the female intake and there is a female cap on the male discharge, both are in the new silver color. Caps and plugs are a common fire apparatus detail often left off of LEGOŽ fire apparatus. The MPX Mini Pumper also uses the old gray elements and it will likely be the last apparatus to feature the old gray colors. The MPX Mini Pumper also features two items first seen on our Type 5 Engine, in cab storage for two firefighter helmets and a prototypical water tank size. The MPX Mini Pumper is four wheel drive and can pump and roll. It makes an ideal initial attack apparatus for big city fire departments that protect limited access areas or as a regular engine company for rural departments that can't afford a full size engine. The MPX Mini Pumper can be used as a brush fire apparatus with it's four wheel drive, however, due to ground clearance issues, it's not ideally suited for extreme off road use. The MPX Mini Pumper has been in the research and development stages since 2005 and we are now proud to offer it to you! Oh, what is MPX? Mini Pumper X. X is the Roman Numeral for the number 10. It's been 10 years since the first custom six wide fire apparatus was displayed on the internet by me. This is sort of an anniversary rig and is way beyond the original Sixby Pumper in form and function. So there you go... |
