Description:
The 1500 Gallon Water Tender is the first Sixby Fire apparatus of 2007. It's also the first to feature our new nameplates on the grille and on the rear hosebed. This is probably also going to be the last Sixby Fire apparatus to use the older gray colors that our parts supplier is no longer able to provide to us. Sixby Fire has made a deal with a third party supplier, for the first time I might add, and we now have a large supply of the new gray colors.
The 1500 Gallon Water Tender, or Tanker for those back east, is an ideal apparatus for rural departments. The single rear axle and short wheelbase, which is only 13 studs, allows for excellent maneuverability. Our custom engine forward cab and bodywork is actually built on a commercial chassis and should repairs be needed any over the road truck mechanic would be able to diagnose and fix the problem since we use commercially available components. The 1500 Gallon Water Tender can act as a tanker or as an attack engine, keeping in mind that it does not have a dump valve or SCBA storage. This apparatus is ideal small departments with limited resources and limited training, including those departments that have no hydrants in their response area or those who do not do interior attacks. The 1500 Gallon Water Tender features a Compressed Air Foam System which can make the 1500 gallons of water into over 6000 gallons of expanded foam. This rig is equally at home at a wildland fire either making fire lines or protecting exposures with it's Compressed Air Foam System or in an industrial setting where it can quickly put into operation without the need to immediately secure a water supply.
